I'd argue it was bad (outside of writer's strike levels of shitty plot) because they made Homelander's pivot to deity shit too obvious ... which ... really makes one wonder how these clowns that think he's redeemable think ... or more accurately, don't think.

I think they started trying to make it more and more obvious that homelander is supposed to be the bad guy, because viewers were continuing to side with him despite how awful he is
