Theme: Time Warp - Mäurer & Wirtz brought Tabac Original to market in 1959, way before I entered this world. I'm using the trifecta so I'll be in the cloud most of the day.

Daily Challenge: International Howl at the Moon Day - in the interest of not incurring the wrath of my sleeping family, no. I'll take a knee on this one.

  • Brush: Summer Break Soaps - w/Maggard Silvertip 28mm Badger

  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Tallow - Soap
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Stargazer - Aftershave Serum

Happy Tabac day!

Theme justification: 1959 is when Tabac was introduced to the world. I was introduced to the world some years later...

This razor has given me lots of "meh" shaves, some good shaves, but not many excellent shaves. This shave was excellent. I must have managed to get a good synthetic edge on it, plus I stropped it 120 times so maybe that helped.

  • razor: Koraat Sheffield wedge 15/16
  • brush: Simpson Trafalgar T3
  • lather: Saponificio Varesino Argania

Had a really good shave. Touched up the edge with some paste, it cut well. Lather was really hydrated, glossy and slowly slid off the blade onto my hands. Basically no weepers even at the difficult places. Alum didn't sting much. Smooth results. I was sick last few days and this really improved my mood. Almost recovered, going for a light workout.

This was my 31st shave with SV's Argania. That argan oil just doesn't get old. I let the leftovers sit on my face for some minutes while I clean up and rub it in before washing off. Makes the skin real soft for the next 12 hours. Other soaps I have don't quite do this.

Always good to get a great edge! Koraat steel is on the harder side, makes it a little trickier as far as I can tell. I often strop a lot, really doesn't hurt in my experience.

October 26th, 2026: The Time Warp

  • Brush: Rad Dinosaur Creations "Trench Line" - Manchuridon Two Band 26mm Badger
  • Razor: Gillette Rocket HD
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (23)
  • Lather: Ariana & Evans - 60's Cologne - Cream
  • Post Shave: Pinaud - Clubman - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Oleo & Co. - Facial Toner - Toner
  • Fragrance: GLHF Workshop - Atriox - EdT

Theme justification - 60's Cologne is a Brut dupe, and Brut was released in 1964. Well before I was born.

Relevant Post Shave or Frag - A double dose of Brut with the powder and musk of Clubman in between. It's not a complicated combo, but often there's beauty in simplicity.

Atriox is a Brut dupe made by u/pridetwo (RIP, gone but not forgotten 🙏) that smells great. In this form I get much more anise and lavender, which balances the sometimes-cloying Clubman quite well.

Daily challenge - Couldn't do it today.
