ratcheting down every year until it reaches 74 grams per mile (46 grams/km)

The time for wrangling about the exact levels of emissions limits is past. The limit should be zero. Actual zero, not "zero emissions" where zero is defined as some non-zero amount that's substantially less than average.

"But what about the economy?" I am asked. If this marvellous, stable, infinitely ingenious economy is worth saving, then it will find a way to adapt efficiently to the change.

Why should we just looking on vehicle emissions? The Climate Action Tracker provides a much better overview how much each country's emission and how we are on track to reach the Paris goals. Here we go: Climate Action Tracker

I would love a chart of net zero target date by country over time.

Every few years it moves back to being 20 years out here.

Here is a list with all countries and their net zero targets (you need to scroll down a bit to reach the list with the countries): https://climateactiontracker.org/global/cat-net-zero-target-evaluations

More information about each country regarding the implementation is also provided by the Climate Watch data or the Zerotracker.
