I'm trying to comprehend the last 2 panels. And I keep getting stuck on the choices for the peasant character. Looks like a false elephant snout? Does that mean fake Republican? Why the rainbow hair? Am I reading too much into this? What's the blue stuff??

Definitely reading too much into it. The person is a Republican stand in. The hair is to indicate that they're clowns. The blue stuff is saliva
