Fun fact, Lebanon, Ohio is locally pronounced Leb-anen or sometimes Leb-nen.

A few years ago I was surprised to get an address from a customer in Yukon, Oklahoma, which happens to be located in Canadian County. It’s known as the Czech capital of Oklahoma.

Thanks for the list. I wonder if there is a name for this type of occurrence?

On another note,

Columbia is everywhere (technically old poetic name for America, but same root as Colombia)

Thy banners make tyranny tremble,
When borne by the red, white, and blue.
When borne by the red, white, and blue.

spoiler

Columbia, Gem of the Ocean

Thanks for the reminder!

"cañada" with the accent over the "n" in Spanish means "gully" or "cattle track" so there's a freeway exit for "Cañada Road" that I drive past every now and then.

Jamaica is actually a super cute town and a great place to go camping as well 👍

These are so fun to me.

There is a Norway, Illinois as well! It did, in fact, have a large Norwegian population. It’s the site of the state of Illinois’s Norwegian Settlers Memorial.

Don’t get me started on foreign city names, too. In Illinois there’s an Athens (ay-thens), a Marseilles (marr-sales) and a Cairo (Kay-Roh) Illinois. Pekin, of course (named after Peking, China). There’s also a Pekin, Ohio.
