This post is false. The result is unverified. Many of these so-called results have turned out to be fake. Nobody should ever trust Sam Altman and fellow grifters. They're just trying to keep the hype train rolling until it explodes off the tracks.
It's also worth noting that this result doesn't change the unknown status of P/NP.
No, this is definitely not curing cancer. |

I'm making an evaluation as an area expert. I think this is very likely to hold. |

This doesn't refute my claim. I said this is more like curing cancer than painting a picture. This is a metaphor in mathematics that's getting thrown around for 'this has applications, it isn't a challenge problem for fun', and I strongly believe that claim. If you disagree, please explain why you believe that breaking the ETH gap will have no real-world consequences. |

Isn't 2^{n/logn} still faster-growing than any polynomial? |

Yes. Perhaps the wording is unclear? This doesn't show P=NP. It shows that P and NP are closer than we expected; that a barrier which many many professionals thought was rock solid is not. There were good reasons to believe ETH; there are not many good reasons (at least right now) to believe $2^{n/logn}$ is optimal. |

It's identical to 2^n as you approach infinity, too. |

Yeah, i think for a general community post like this, that sentence has too much subtext (SAT is NP-complete so if it was solved in polynomial time then the title of the post would be P=NP not something about ETH). Anyways, there could always be a hard limit at like n/logn^2 or n/logn^1.000001 or something like that. |
