Brazil isn't Venezuela, much bigger, stronger institutions, stronger army etc. Never say never but you think Trump is eager on getting into another Iran war?

I hope so, but history indicates otherwise.

Does this mean Brazil is not going back to burning the Amazon, or do the other side just do it more quietly?

No burning the Amazon. But now we have to worry if trump won't try to repeat what he did in Venezuela here.

More info from the similar Guardian article:

Bolsonaro allies told Metrópoles [news outlet] that he would land in Florida on Tuesday afternoon and planned to request political asylum. “The Donald Trump administration has been informed,” the website added.

A US state department spokesperson said Bolsonaro and his family would be granted visas “to allow them entry into the United States.”

Bolsonaro has had Italian citizenship since 2023 and reportedly possesses a passport from the European country.

Lula slammed what he called Bolsonaro’s “shameful” decision to flee. “This is what the family Bolsonaro are like. Brazil is their second homeland. Their first homeland is licking the boots of the US, as he’s become accustomed to doing,” he said at an event celebrating his 81st birthday in Brasília.

And the Untied States will invade Brazil to install him as president. I wish I was kidding and didn't see this as a real possibility

I hope 'Untied' States wasn't a typo, because that has the ring of truth.

No, but maybe there are still some left in the Pentagon who have not been purged yet and some influence left.

I wouldn't count on it. Kegsbreath will probably have his public execution if they resist.

Never say never but you think Trump is eager on getting into another Iran war? I hate that this question doesn't have a clear an immediate answer as "of course not!". Because... yes, I can see pedohitler considering this to hide the disaster of Iran.

Lol! In two more steps he will be trading nuclear hits with France and the UK to distract the population from his earlier mistakes...

There was a lot of speculated jokes in Brazil that Flávio had his jet on standby while the votes were being counted, and that if he lost he would immediately fuck off to the US to be with his brother, who is already here, also avoiding arrest. Not surprised if it's true, and of course he won't be sent back to Brazil under the current administration, he'll be Rubio's assistant or something probably

They weren't much of a joke, but people laughing at the most probable scenario.

I completely expected him to flee in December. It being today was a surprise.

Well…Iran is a vast country, with a deeply rooted regime, strong military, proxies all over the Middle East ánd the ability to chokehold global energy supplies…

…and yet Trump was stupid enough to wage war on Iran on a whim. Nuff said.

And his other son is living in Texas avoiding prosecution in Brazil for the coup plot.

What other Brazilian would be able to fly here on a questionable passport (seeing as he was ordered to surrender it) with no clear plans to ever go back to Brazil? I promise if he was pregnant they would kick his ass back home after some torture.

He refused to comply with the order I think I read

A little less burning more quietly yes. It would be worse with weakchin douchelord there obviously. Lula isn't great though, he won as a rejection of weakchin douchelord, not because of himself. No one likes him particularly, outside the same percent of sheep that like our dems or pubs here.

Pretty much. All of this is part of their theater. He flies from facing the consequences of his crimes but the far right will of course spin it around, lying about some political witch hunt. It's always the same with these criminal politicians. Everyone else is the bad one. They know they simply have to keep denying everything and some idiots will keep believing them. It's sad, really.

With a private account holding the proceeds of stolen Venezuelan oil and a gift jet waiting for him in Qatar, I'm pretty sure the orange chancre is going to do the same if he makes it to 2028 or ever catches real charges, whichever comes first.

Went would he do it after '28?

He thinks he can run for a third term. While a third term is blatantly unconstitutional, and similar constitutional terms should have kept him off the ballot in 2024, he survived those legal challenges somehow and remained a candidate.

But being a candidate is no guarantee of winning, and like both Bolsonaro senior and junior, the second he is not protected from prosecution by occupying elected office (which is itself legally questionable: the framers never wanted another king), his status becomes only that of a private citizen under multiple criminal investigations.

Should he run again and lose -- or even do the normal thing and walk away when his current term is over -- he is looking at a lifetime of investigations, prosecutorial attempts at conviction, and legal fees that over time would add up to more than the national budget of some small countries (I'm not even joking).

Only the presidency keeps him from that. If our democracy isn't dead by then, the next US president will be elected in November 2028 and Trump will be out of office and out of time.

He is an asset of Trump (more specifically of Rubio) to destabilize Brazil's democracy. He lost and now he is going to the US to ask asylum.
Besides that, he's a notorious corrupt politician and there are many criminal investigations that will proceed now that he's close to losing parliamentary protection.

Didn't Jair Bolsonaro also flee to the USA immediately after losing his election in 2022?

wp:Jair Bolsonaro#Post-presidency (2023–present)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jair_Bolsonaro#Post-presidency_(2023–present)

On 30 December 2022, one day before the end of his term, Bolsonaro arrived in the US state of Florida and resided in Kissimmee for several months.[188][189] On 8 January 2023, his supporters attacked the buildings of the Supreme Court of Brazil, the National Congress, and the Planalto Presidential Palace to instigate a military coup d'état and reinstate Bolsonaro as president.[190]
