Even if someone is immersed in a deeply bigoted religion and culture, it's super easy to arrive at the conclusion that LGBTQIA people deserve to have equal treatment with non-LGBTQIA people. If you give someone a pass because they live in Poland, or Minnesota, or Russia, or Mexico, then there's effectively little difference between you and the bigots themselves. Our queer siblings are dying. We don't have time for slow, incremental "progress" that amounts to no progress at all.
