In most Addams Family media, Morticia's maiden name is said to be Frump, which would make her father the Frump, with Hester Frump having an unknown maiden name. But in production details from the original show, Uncle Fester (who was meant to be Granny Frump's brother) is sometimes credited as Uncle Fester Frump. That would mean Granny (Hester) Frump is a Frump by birth. In the original show, Fester also says “[…] we can't have a jilted Frump. It'd be a stain on our family escutcheon” when talking about himself. That clearly indicates that he is part of the Frump family. In other media, Morticia's father is known as Grandpa Frump. That would mean he's a Frump by birth, since men All of that just seems to indicate that BOTH parents are Frumps. Obviously that would be a bit weird, unless they're particularly distant cousins, but at the same time it doesn't feel impossible, especially for a wealthy aristocratic family. (Which they are, since they have a castle and an escutcheon.) So what do you think? |
