In the year 1802 a man named Timothy Dexter published a book titled A Pickle for the Knowing Ones. The book itself was something of an autobiography combined with just completely unhinged rambings. You may see this man and his book as a product of the times. Just a random guy blessed with two things, the best RNG in human history and a sweet-ass hat. But I see it as something more. An expression of a primal pattern. In life you can either go with the flow or try to forge your own path. Both of these approaches have their own perks and problems. But I see another path. The middle road. You stand at a crossroad. There are two birch trees. They are sisters. They both sing a song. The song they sing is beautiful, and you are enchanted by their melody. Each of them sings a different story, each promises you the world. The test is not to choose the right path. The test is to realize that neither path is the correct one. You can just walk in the middle. Nothing is stopping you. Timothy Dexter was a one in a hundred billion. And we should all aspire to be at least a little bit like him. Not as a person, but as a soul. Free. It doesn't matter WHY you are free. It matters THAT you are free. Free to think, free to question, no matter how stupid the questions. If you question, you already know. Because over 50% of the answer is always contained in the question. So let me ask you a question. Why are you here? It's a pickle for the Knowing Ones. |
