Episode 17: The Place of Wings
We return to Aramán in the deserts of the old and fallen empire of Obridimia. Our adventurers, the Seekers, journeyed east from Dol-Makjar seeking visions and vengeance. Passing through the seat of House Einfasen (the bustling city of Riesingürtle) they discovered that perhaps there were more questions than answers about what had befallen the houses of Davinos and Royce. Men arrested, letters sent by bird far off to the Golden Orchard, making their own way to the gardens of the druids of Stone and Season, from Castle Klippenblicke. With pitched combat astride the Hachvallen Brücke.
You rode by sky carriage to Castle Torch (home of the Barrowguard) where Julien discovered that some number of his battalion trained under his command had been sent with the head ranger under the disguised orders of House Tachonis to defend Tannesar. You made your way to the Shadowlight Waypoint where you met Sir Obzaz Claw and Masha Thorn of the Circle of Ancients, and one Dr Amry Talter of the Totality (nervous halfling cleric of an order of intelligence-based clerics. INT is actually their casting modifier for their clerical spells, getting to a divine belief in a really academic way). An old and long since resolved prophecy was about to endanger the lives of many members of the Order of the Rose (protecting a caravan of Candescent Creed goods headed towards Venatus). Relieved of her duty upon the word of Occtis Tachonis, Dr Talter was preparing to return to the Totality.
After a long conversation having to do with loyalty, objective, purpose, and quest, some truths were laid bare by our adventurers here. Why did this mysterious elven stranger draw so close to young Occtis Tachonis? Is it because she believes there may be a hope (that for many long years she has not felt) that the dead may walk amongst the living once again?
Even between Thaisha and Occtis, was there some distance created with the framing of a question: Could you, or would you, if you knew it were possible, to bring more than a fox back from the other side, but to bring a Shaper (or as some would call them, a god).
And from Julien Davinos, seeking revenge on the House of Tachonis, were these questions asked of, what drew this group together. Tensions rose, bitter words were shared. And according to the vassal of the young Lord Occtis Tachonis (Dame Gaya Seremai) she pronounced this mission as 'doomed'.
Making your way with Dr Talter and Dame Gaya Seremai over the Titan's Bench and down the Tiria Via (an ancient highway in a desiccated aqueduct headed towards the heard of the ancient empire). You found your way to the sands below where lighting a torch under the naked stars of the Eternal Night, shadows came to life and voices spoke not under the will of their owners. You arrived at the excavation of Tannesar (in ancient Celestial, "The Place of Wings") where Dr Talter had told you that the promise of celestial vengeance was given to the priestly houses of old (where Tansul, god of the sun said, "Should my brother strike me down, my vengeance will still not be at an end. ").
Using the Kibbenimkedaz (a book of the Names of Stones) Occtis Tachonis saw a vision of the ancient temples moved to this now buried place, seeing a memory in the rock of when the sun walked this very earth. Arriving at the edge of the quarry and making your way down the switchback road (exterior of obsidian and volcanic glass) you found this lost holy place. The bodies of the Barrowguard twitching there under the starlight. Approaching one, extending a hand (Julien and Vaelus) looking through the helm to see a fluttering of wings, blinking eyes, beaks of nightingales.
We return in this moment of adventure, I'm going to need a WIS saving throw from Vaelus.

03:31:20 Lore Drop A mysterious resource called ossement. Haley Joel Osment (6th Sense) jokes are made.
"The Halovars have proven a dead end. Some inherent power of their sorcery immunizes them against 'the procedure'."
"A new source of calcidion has revealed itself, but we need to move quickly. 'The Cloak' is moving faster than anticipated. If the obelisk holds fast in Tannesar, does the sacrifice itself need to happen in Tannesar?"
The risks may be necessary. We cannot long keep our forces hidden outside the Orchard, and we can't chance the Sea Door closing."
03:34:45 On a 30, the schematics of Tannesar are revealed. An effort was made to create a celestial called the Deva Vindicta. There is a chamber named the Apotheon Vindicta that is reached by passing through a zone named The Hall of the Demon Guardians. Beneath The Apotheon Vindicta is found The Sepulchral Veil.
A subterranean lake with a bridge approaches The Apotheotic Obelisk. Further is found something mentioning "the creature's dwelling place" along with information on House Seremai's petrification anti-venom. Ready for basilisks.
03:39:39 Moar Lore Vaelus finds a note: "Final experiment a partial success, but largely failure. It is my opinion that Tertia's innate gifts and connection to the Tenebral Reaches thwarted the grafting of the calcidial prosthesis. I will miss her dearly."
03:40:24 Old Yeller, but with scorpions instead of dogs.
03:42:25 Time to use Speak with Dead on Pascard Velmonte.
03:44:55 Pascal:"What happened here? I'll tell you what I know if you can answer my questions as well, because I think what here was chaos."
