I'm Australian and cannot legally vote in US elections. So instead of voting against Trump, I campaigned against him online by telling people to vote for Harris. And campaigned for more refugee visas here in Australia.

In early 2024 I also saw a lot of people say "There's no way people are going to vote for Trump again after his disastrous first term, so let's use this election cycle to push for a better candidate than Joe, even if it costs the Ds a few votes"

Yeah....

The idea there is a difference between the two is just laughable

EDIT: by "the two" I meant the two US parties

Can we just stop it with the strawmanning election memes, already?

  • It's been over a year
  • It's not like the online left would have turned the tides
  • I've yet to see a pro-voting meme that's not a strawman
  • There are currently things going on in the so-called US that are way more important and urgent than crying over an election
  • that happened over a year ago

I know Zionism in all its forms and all its actions have been genocidal since inception; I'm talking specifically about stuff that happened during the Biden-Harris administration.

You really believe this and I believe you think it's right.

Here are 100 dodgy AI sources that are spread over ten paragraphs which actually don't support what I've written (i.e. AI has written).

Yeah, take that. Also, north korea has an infallible leader and blah.

Long week, not clear from my post, i'm having a dig at tankies here, not OP

That messaging was so loud it was clear from the beginning, and i am not from/in that continent.

One day it will be tablecloth knowledge that the system is not about who leads - its about how quickly they can push the billionaire agenda. It doesn't matter who wins the 'elections', they make a mint and will continue to do so.

They need us and hate us, playing ball is our foul.

Nah, talking about talking to tankies. They smash you with AI rubbish at any comment that doesn't support xi, putin, or un.

Bad attempt from me at a joke way too late after a long week...

Okay I feel you.

I do want to clarify though that non-voting is a principled anarchist position. The OP isn't really arguing against (or for) tankies. They're arguing against the existence of a principled anarchist non-voting stance using "tankie" as a smear.

No not at all, I fucking hate Pissrael and Zionist scum, but we can criticize Pissrael without perpetuating antisemitic dog whistles (specifically that "goy" shit).

Edit: if anyone has an emoji-sized Pissrael-on-fire flag in the vein of AmeriKKKa that I can copy-paste, please share it here; it will get so much use ♥️

Fair enough. Didn’t realise Epstein & friends were antisemites as well.

The way I see it, we're on a deadline. If we can't immunise enough people to this BS by the midterms, then Trump will declare himself dictator and there will need to be a civil war. And if the Americans can't get a grassroots movement strong enough to start that civil war, then we're doing world war 3. And I don't want world war 3.

I mean yes, Zionists like Epstein literally are (well Epstein was 🦀) antisemitic, 1000%. They hate Holocaust survivors, they hate anti-Zionist Jews, they hate anyone who isn't a Zionist like them. And they weaponize antisemitism accusations to get their way, and foist responsibility for the consequences of Zionist fascism onto all Jews.

Anarchists are not necessarily against all involvement in electoral politics. Some advocate voting when the possible outcome of an election could be disastrous (for example, if a fascist or quasi-fascist party looks likely to win the election).

What your source is actually saying is that we cannot rely on voting. I fully agree with your source that voting will not effect change. In fact, My post is not advocating for voting as a means of change. It is advocating for voting as a means of preventing things from getting worse, while we use direct action to make things better. Because the thing is, voting does work as a means of change when one side does it and the other doesn't. And the fascists will never stop.

Yeah, I know, whoever thought campaigning against Joe would lead to things getting better was a fool. They had far too much faith in the intelligence of the Democrats.

These two statements seem contradictory? Also, please see my other source. Like I reject the notion that voting is truly a method of preventing things from getting worse. IMO, voting is a pressure valve that directs righteous anger against the system into impotent non-action within the system.
