We need to get this guy UBI or a gift economy so he can spend all day unblocking drains like this for free. He's providing a public service

I love how he's keeping family friendly and when he wants to do some good natured Aussie swearing at the pipes he goes "OH YOU GOOD THING! OH YOU VERY VERY GOOD THING!!"

I think if a person can work they should be able to buy a house support a family of four on 20 hours a week of work. That could be grilling burgers at McDonald's or fixing plumbing at a house or teaching kids or caring for the elderly. Heck maybe even finance or programming.

Then you've got plenty of time for entertainment, art, making video games, being in plays, volunteering, travel, education, rest, gardening, and so on.

In this universe you've still got enough structure to keep your life together for your job, but it's casual enough that it feels low stakes. You could save up for a few years and take a few years off.

This universe is doable right now if we just unionize and regulate corporations and capital holders. If we move away from "line go up" and regulate away behavior that allows it. If we break up companies with more than 500 employees to keep them deliberately inefficient and unable to leverage control over labor. We live at a time where we are living on the food produced by 1% of the labor, living in houses built by 1% of the labor, and all working bullshit office jobs that just make line go up. I say fuck the line and let's all just enjoy that we won already and just need to enjoy it.

We can start by unionizing

The gift economy already exists. You can give this person money, tools, or other support already today.

It’s easier today than ever to do what you love and collect voluntary donations through the internet while doing it.
