Multi-tap is what you’re thinking of. T9 was the predictive algorithm, where you only had to hit each key once, so “fluent” could be entered as 358368. |

T9 may have worked fine for english, but as a Swede, I remember it being shit for compound words like: "Slussvaktarbostadshembiträde" "järnvägstationskiosk" "Diskrimineringsombudsman" These are obviously obtuse examples, but all are valid swedish words. |
