One of the commenters I saw speculated that this may be (jokingly, and limited to the materials on hand) an attempt to look like an ancient Roman legionary, either as a joke or as the result of a failed bet. Shoes, tunic, gladius, and helmet with high crest (cat)!

Certainly it's the soldier (or his friends) having a bit of fun!

I very much enjoy that he’s holding that thing away from his leg, probably because it’s cold af. The right hand being clenched hard agrees with that, and I find the whole thing very relatable. Like omg hurry up and snap the pic I’m freezing!
