A well-known Marigny bar at the center of multiple WDSU investigations is facing eviction.

Neighbors say dangerous incidents keep happening, and they are scared for their lives, so they turned to WDSU Investigates for help.

"We have had murders, gunfire, huge fights, drug dealing and people selling illegal license plates,” Pat Galloway said.

Galloway said she's lived near Iggy’s bar along North Rampart and Touro streets for 11 years. She said there needs to be a change to keep businesses accountable.

"What we have always heard is, it's not my fault it's happening on the street,” Galloway said. “There are stray bullets, huge fights. I am angry about it. I live near the Quarter; I understand a lively neighborhood, but not gunfire and huge fights and screaming in the middle of the night.”

Staff would not comment.

Inside, a patron named Brian Davis spoke in support of Iggy’s.

“It is a classic case of gentrification,” Davis said. “The neighborhood has become popular, people buy into houses here at exorbitant rates, pushing out folks that have lived here for generations. It’s a citywide systemic issue.”

King and neighbors believe this activity could end with someone getting killed.

“Breaking the law in plain sight,” Galloway said.

WDSU asked Mayor Cantrell’s office for comment. They directed WDSU to NOPD.

WDSU is still waiting to hear back.

This was article was from back in July. I had no idea about this, but yeah this is some bullshit.

I made a post about this bar yesterday bc it was just suddenly gone

It was so weird and I honestly thought maybe it was like a joke? It just looked like a fake bar had been copied and pasted in place of the neighborhood bar that's been there forever. Like if an alien tried to design a set for a gay bar scene in a play about humans.

Pretty much every day there were people hanging out like this and just relaxing after work. I'm not disputing things probably happened, but it was definitely not some wild party in the streets every night.

Like one day the old bar is there, people are there and the next it was just gone. All the people were gone and this new (empty) bar with a new name just appeared in its place with no explanation:

I guess whoever bought it immediately tried to revamp it for Southern Decadence (which was probably the quietest decadence weekend I can ever remember since COVID). There are normally tons of people at that bar, but it was completely dead all weekend.

I've lived next to vacation/party AirBNB houses in the past where there's no accountability, and people cause trouble. I literally had to roll out of bed one night, and hit the floor the week I was scheduled to be induced bc some idiot had irresponsibly rented out a house to a bunch teenagers that got in a fight and started shooting at each other.

I never ever want to do that again, and I totally get you don't want a bunch of random people hanging out and causing problems, but that is not what this bar was!

You know what's worse for your property value than a somewhat rowdy (but not even) neighborhood bar? Desolate streets where nobody is around and everything ends up closed down and boarded up bc nobody goes there.

Tourism is already down bc of Trump, and Jeff Landry is literally killing what's left by making this whole city as milquetoast and uptight as him. Fuck this nonsense.

You think people come here bc they want to celebrate Mardi Gras or Decadence the way Jeff Landry would dictate it be celebrated? Do whatcha wanna (as long as you have permission and notarized approval from King Jeffy). Fuck that.
