It really needs the addition of a proper management layer. The fact that it doesn't have one is bizarre when you look at Battle Brothers.

It's always getting XCOM comparisons, but if XCOM (or Battle Brothers) simply had you dispassionately select one battle after another from a menu, they would never have been popular in the first place.
