I was inspired by a person in another subreddit that briefly wrote about this but if you look at mainstream media as an example, the protagonists in capeshit media, prestige tv or even big budget live action franchises are usually charismatic, attractive people that are very clearly progressive coded and morally righteous, this is definitely had impact on peoples moral compasses.
now even in reality, there were many paramilitary groups in the 20th century that were far left and cultivated a strong identity with sharp uniforms, iconic symbols and ideological clarity, whether people agree or not, they clearly thought they were fighting for the greater good and they did all that without wanting to destroy the world like the men that enjoyed hugo boss.
I have seen people say " its because the right is the counter culture and the left is establishment, which if anything couldn't be further from the truth, we have seen a global rise in far right movement across the world such as electoral, cultural, paramilitary/terrorist organisations, which clearly show the right isn't a fringe outside force confined to online forums.
also the actual establishment that people call " the left" are dominated by neoliberal technocrats that may adopt progressive language but are structurally invested in maintaining the liberal world order and this is why the far left is treated as a greater threat than the far right. he far right as long as they aren't openly nazi, they can be moderated and absorbed but the far left in contrast seeks to abolish the economic and political foundations the neoliberal world order is built on.
