Back in the day, "boner" meant mistake. The Joker made a mistake and was humiliated to have it posted publicly in the newspaper (they didn't have the Internet back then).

If you didn't want them to laugh, maybe you shouldn't have added that slide whistle sound effect.

Listen fella, you don't go around pointing out a man's disability like that.

To be fair a boner ought to be pretty funny for people to even chortle at a murderous sociopath's expense.

Back then you couldn't chortle at someone's boner safely over the internet.

My life is full of giant boners.
