At about 2:45 I was just thinking "it'd be hilarious if the Bunker decided to pull it back and not award the try".

Before that I was laughing at the feeble attempts by security to do...something.

They knew this was a good possibility and absolutely could have (and probably did have) a plan prepared for it. There were media reports the week leading up to it telling the crowd not to do exactly this. Which they presumably knew would be completely ignored.

In fact I wonder, if anything, if those media reports may have actually increased the chances of people storming the field.
