Any German still in NYC at this point is a fucking moron. We shouldn't let them back into Europe.

I would prefer it if they stayed in germany.
A close second after israeli tourists in entitlement and assholery.
Also 'at this point'?
The US has been awful since forever.
Of all the places in the world why choose to be a tourist in the biggest terrorist state on the planet?
All the tasteless trash stuck in UAE can rot in hell too.

I was mostly aiming at the general ignorance towards the state of the world in people still seeing that regime between Canada and Mexico as a worthwhile travel destination.

Also ‘at this point’?
The [former] US has been awful since forever.

That's a fair point, but at least they were trying to keep up appearances of civility until a couple of years ago. Enough to fool me in the 90s.

IDK how young you were, I visited Mexico then and no way I was crossing that border.
I watched them carpet bomb baghdad on CNN with the commentator getting all exited and screaming what an awesome sight it was. They had the Rodney King incidents,etc..
And from various coppaganda shows I knew I could get into trouble simply by talking to their border goons.
Even back then they had their authoritarian attitude and it was assumed any foreigner entering their precious country would need a grovelling attitude while answering all their silly questions.
I know I have a big mouth and wouldn't be able to pretend for long enough or hide my contempt.
I got stories from people I know who didn't even do anything wrong and got put in jail and paying a very expensive ticket to get deported back to Europe.

Rodney King & the LA riots as well as the gulf wars were pretty much the only bad news that were reported upon internationally before the internet was commonly available. Pre digitalization age, the country wasn't as divided, but yes, it was already chock full of racism (or always has been) that I simply didn't see much of in my privileged golden cage / not even traveling near areas where underprivileged people were suffering.

Where is your "privileged golden cage" if I may ask that it didn't have papers or TV?
Could be you didn't pay attention because you were young and more interested in a good time then being confronted with gruesome reality of our world.
At that time both media still had some objective news before they got totally controlled.
Even the BBC showed a documentary on the WACO siege that showed the FBI murdered all those people.
I felt sick from watching it.

I kind of described what I meant by that in my previous post. But yes, that aside, in Europe, mainstream papers or TV did not really report on atrocities in that country. As a matter of fact, even today they are skirting around calling the government of said country a bunch of child raping and child murdering monsters.

I'm Belgian and I see you're German.
Knowing that fact makes this sentence sound very strange:

even today they are skirting around calling the government of said country a bunch of child raping and child murdering monsters.

From what I see and read "even today" is the time where your government is possibly the biggest bootlicker of their regime, even more of the israeli genocider regime.
Shamelessly supporting both countries while they mass murder children.
I'm not a fan of my and most EU governments and the EU itself but these people are without exaggeration soulless monsters.

Yes. That was kind of my point?
