I think it would be more than that. Iran is 4 times the size of Iraq with who knows how long their tunnel systems are. Population is also about 3-4 times larger than Iraq.

If they try to control Iran it will turn into second Vietnam/Afghanistan. Tens of thousands of dead US soldiers.

But you can't safely occupy Kharg without controlling the mainland. Iran is hitting targets much farther away than Kharg.

There were ~400.000 German soldiers in nazi occupied Norway in 1945, a country with then a little less than 3 million people. Arguably even that didn't really control the country.
