i also remember seeing this one article about how fat women about how we need to stop hating our bodies and start demanding to be represented in Hollywood more. Which im pretty sure is impossible since Hollywood is the epitome of Toxic Beauty standards for all genders

why are these people so obsessed with having their ideology represetned in an industry that stands for everything that a true liberal or leftist should stand against and why do so many of them view reality through the lens of shitty or mediocre fiction?

Because young-people experience social-process as being most-real, & simply don't have the being-forced-into-countering-social-process-pressure EXPERIENCE that creates alternative, within one.

It's like asking why larvae do larvae things, whereas adult-forms do adult-form things..

Young-people experience social-feelings as REALITY much more than us old-bastards do.

& when they've had for-profit-"culture" forced into them, relentlessly, all their lives, .. what frame-of-reference are they "supposed" to orient-to, other than the one they experienced & were formed-in??

As for replacing religion with pop-culture, there was a historical-photo I saw here on lemmy, within the last few hours, of a mother & children, probably from Europe, .. *the cultural-programming encoded in their clothing was every-bit as drenching as the cultural-encoding in any "religion"!!

I find plain clothes, t-shirts & pants with useful pockets, makes much more sense than cultural-encoding everything into "meaning" within-a-cultural-religion.

but assumption-rivers/"religions" are only cultures that anchor onto a symbol "god", and I'm including fundamentalist-atheism as a religion, too, as its behavior is every bit as ideological & cultural as any other religion.
