Having a military or navy doesn't automatically mean it's genociding maybe it's a peace keeping ship or something?

Maybe, but I’m thinking that where ever the Grinch was serving certainly didn’t have a Christmas Truce and may constitute a painful backstory as to why he is The Grinch.

Grinch 2 will be many decades later after Cindy Lou Who has grown up, been drafted, served three tours abroad, and comes home not knowing what Christmas is all about.
