They claim the dynamic pricing model can also be used to lower prices, but I haven’t seen any evidence of that happening:

Fifa is using the widely criticised dynamic pricing model for this year’s World Cup, in which prices can increase or decrease depending on demand. Fifa has said profits from the tournament will help fund grassroots football across the world.

I saw a thing saying that in Canada hotel bookings for the games are at 20% booked instead of the 50% it usually is by this time out.

I hope all tickets are prohibitively expensive for normal people, so that wealthy people overpay, experience the plebe standard of US stadium seating, then get hassled by ICE while there.

Fuck FIFA, fuck anyone rich enough to afford it, and fuck the ICE agents who have to deal with those entitled drunk and angry fans.

I don't understand how so many people justify supporting FIFA still.

Like, you even have home teams still, just stop caring about anything FIFA touches

Word on the street is that in the US host cities, hotel bookings are below what they are this time of year even without a special event. You gotta wonder if FIFA is trying to squeeze money out of the few because they’re struggling to move excess inventory and need to make up their margins somehow.

That's normal.

Anytime a large event happens, hotels jack up the price well in advance.

People not coming for the event, just stay somewhere else instead, or visit that location at a different time.

As the date gets closer, if there's a lot of rooms available in the area, they all drop price. If there's not a lot of rooms, the price goes skyhigh.

This is all 100% normal when an event is going to bomb.

FIFA runs all of global soccer. Even my fourth tier neighborhood club is subject to FIFA’s whims. There’s not really a way to follow soccer, domestic or international, without dealing with FIFA.

Even my fourth tier neighborhood club is subject to FIFA’s whims.

Then start another fourth tier neighborhood club...

Support them, go to their games.

If enough people boycott FIFA, this could be solved in a year.

If no FIFA team sells tickets, they don't make money.

They could split or go bankrupt, if they split from FIFA so do their players, if the go bankrupt the players would be idiots for signing with a FIFA team that can't sell tickets.

Like, it's the easiest thing in the world if everyone stands together.

One person can't change the whole thing, but if everyone just stopped supporting FIFA, that's all it takes.

The effort divided by ever soccer fan is trivial. It's literally just asking them to pause for a few years for the good of the game and actual human suffering.

If someone is unwilling to do that, then they're a fucking piece of shit, right?

It is not the easiest thing ever. FIFA has rules about which leagues count as professional experience, and playing in a non-accredited league means players can't use that playing time when applying for visas. For instance, NCAA soccer doesn't count towards a UK visa, so our college athletes have to play in a summer league to be eligible for a work visa. Starting a new faction would mean players would only be able to play domestically, and it would be a huge gamble to risk their whole career on an upstart. And that doesn't even touch things like TV deals, other competitions like the Open Cup, or that you would have to build a lot of facilities. It may be worth it, but it is certainly by no means a trivial ask.

Welp, guess we have to keep funneling fucking billions to a corrupt international organization that openly takes bribes from authoritarian dictators who commit horrible human rights abuses...

My bad bro, I thought not watch sports for a year or would be easy enough for people to want to reduce global human suffering.

If it were as easy as not watching soccer for a year, I promise you I would have done it already.

I didn't try it, because I don't want to, so I'm going to say it's not worth trying

Great attitude chief, I hope you carry that in all aspects of your personal life.

I can tell you with perfect assurance that FIFA doesn't collapse when I don't follow the sport for a year because I have absolutely taken years off at a time from following soccer. I've tried it. It objectively hasn't worked.

Tell that to Real Madrid, probably the most powerful team in the world, who have been trying for years and the only thing they've managed to do is almost miss out on important competitions for not even being mentioned. You can hate the IOC, but your chances of organizing an Olympic Games without them are zero; it's basically the same thing.

If the "most powerful team in the world" quit FIFA, I guarantee others would follow to the new league, and a shit ton more would be created for it.

But I googled what you were talking about...

It seems to just be Madrid leaving one FIFA league, to join a different FIFA league.

What am I missing here?
