True, things have changed. But five years ago Finland and Sweden weren’t in NATO.
Finland and Sweden haven't been officially in NATO, but nothing really changed in practical terms there because they were never neutral to begin with. If there ever was a war between NATO and Russia, it's obvious which side they would've joined. What's far more consequential is that NATO arsenals have been depleted over the past four years, and Western power over the world has been diminished significantly. The economies in Europe are suffering being cut off from cheap energy. BRICS is now a serious competitor to the G7. There's a whole new financial system that evolved to work around SWIFT. And now the west is turning on itself. The proxy war in Ukraine was the catalyst for all that. |
