Masculinity has become radioactive. It’s one of the most polarizing forces in modern culture. Families fracture over it, politics feeds on it and entire online ecosystems monetize it. And no one seems to agree on what it is anymore. |

I see a lot of people say there's no role models outside of the manosphere and I think Terry Crews is a good role model for sure. He's not perfect and he shouldn't be ... he's human, but I've admired the man and I love this conversation. |

Wholeheartedly agree. But toxic masculinity isn’t the only toxicity algorithmically dividing us. To varying degrees, I’m seeing toxic femininity (among women and liberals), toxic Zionism (among the Christian right) and toxic faux libertarianism / anti-tax (among the boomers.) There are probably more that I’m not thinking of. I’m OK focusing first on the danger toxic masculinity poses. But we would be remiss if we ignored the others. |

Yeah, I admittedly haven't finished the entire interview. I need to finish my workday first, so I'm only halfway through but Terry mentions earlier on about the term "toxic masculinity" and how it's too easily thrown around and how some men grab ahold of it and say "what's the use of it? ... I'm just a man and now I'm being blamed?". I'm paraphrasing but what he's saying loosely is defining the terms and problems and being clear so we don't get misconstrued. |

There is much to admire about him, but last I checked he is still transphobic, so might not be the beeest role model edit: not sure how I ended up on a 4month old post sorry lol |

lol, always happy to read and maybe reply 🙂 I've never heard of those accusations ... I'm taking a look and it and I see the post:
I think if this is genuine then it's one of the questions that are better left asked with people that are transgender in a nice setting. Like, I have questions about my friends beliefs/race/culture all the time and I sound like an idiot but we have a good back and forth ... I don't like it when things like this are sent into the Internet or the brogan podcasts. I don't go on X or Instagram so I don't see celebs thoughts like this, but it's hard to determine what type of question he's asking. People like to say all these questions are innocent questions or statements, like when Joe said something to effect of, "excluding all the KKK stuff, isn't the Grand Wizard such a cool name? Why can't I say that?" It's like ... is that a real question or a dog whistle ... or something else ... you know? And then I see a follow up:
I would like to think that he's not transphobic if it's just what I see here and not other statements/things I've missed. I do genuinely like the man, but I also don't idolize him. He's not infallible for sure. |
