I came to a bit of a realisation: I am young and impatient; I am impatient, partly, because I am young.

Not exactly world-shattering, but I think it is quite illuminating, in a sense.

I often consider my ideas in dialogue format -- that is to say I think of myself as presenting the idea to someone (who is also me, but either somewhat adversarial or, at least, more critical) and responding to the questions posed -- and I find that my ideas are mostly half-cooked thoughts, yet unready for hatching. I think I should be happy about this, actually. Isn't it good that I get to put my own ideas through the gauntlet of my own mind to find some of their flaws? I think that is good. Yet, it is mostly frustrating. I want to have good ideas; I want to reach some powerful conclusion and construct definite arguments; I want to have the answers I care about; but I don't, and that upsets me.

I suspect that to be the folly of youth. Really, I'm not that young anymore -- call it inexperience or naivete, if you prefer. I'm too green! I don't like that.

I need to temper my expectations and learn to better chew on what I think.

I think. Frankly, I doubt that as well, and can definitely think of some counter-arguments. Oh well!

I wore my black pants. I'm going back to work tomorrow after about 2 weeks off... Rough.

I finished Notes from Underground! Despite it being somewhat emotionally difficult to get through, I still think it was fantastic. I really liked it. I started reading Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad. Good so far.
