Thank goodness: “Italy’s possible requalification for the 2026 World Cup, which US president Donald Trump’s envoy, Paolo Zampolli, has reportedly proposed to Fifa, is firstly not possible, and secondly not appropriate,” Abodi told Sky News. “I don’t know what comes first. Qualification is on the pitch.”
Smart move by the Italians. If they went instead of Iran, their image in football would be tarnished for a long time. By quickly refusing the possible offer to go after failing to qualify, they are showing classiness and maturity. They're a very good team. They will get there on merit and do great in future WCs. |
