Away to the Big Swally beer festival tomorrow! Otherwise, hoping to go forage some wild garlic. There's a river bank near me absolutely covered in the stuff. It smells incredible when it's in season

Ooh, happy birthday! What's the cocktail of choice? I'm quite partial to an espresso martini, but they're a bit frustrating in that I don't usually want caffeine and alcohol at the same time of day

Circus: I don't think I've been to one since I was too young to really remember it properly, but I do think there's a genuine appeal to displays of athletic and acrobatic skill. I guess in my head, the circus is to Olympic gymnastics as the WWE is to Olympic wrestling?

Sounds absolutey perfect!! I quite like the circus. Its nostalgic! The one in the Blackpool Tower is good! We went with my husbands daughter and my god daughter about 10 years ago though so dunno about it now!!

Tequila Sunrises. Got some tequila to use up, and grenadine. A great combo!

Nice, I did it last year and it was a great affair - very drunken! And I love some foraging, might have to match you and get some for a tattie salad

Its just white rum, lime, crushed mint leaves, sugar syrup, crushed ice and topped off with soda water. I add strawberry syrup first to make it strawberry flavoured. You could make some syrup using your strawberries!

What do you collect for the wild garlic? Is it the leaves, flowers or bulbs? I love the smell but have never collected any!

It's the leaves you're after, and the stems are also good if weaker than the leaves. Just take care to do your reading beforehand, because it looks really similar to a couple of other things that are poisonous if you eat them. The smell is very helpful in making sure you've got wild garlic, of course, but just make sure youre confident about identifying it

Ooh, that sounds like a good idea. I didn't have a plan for what to actually use it for yet

Man I wish I liked tequila sunrises, they look amazing but the flavours have just never worked for me. All the more for you, I suppose!

I'm an idiot and managed to do it without poisoning myself, at least! I just don't want to get anyone hurt by encouraging them to go forage some without learning enough beforehand

Jersey royals and Ayrshire earlies should be in the shops now too. Try with sour cream instead of mayo, boil in loads of salt, and a light dusting of paprika to finish

Not a bad idea about the syrup, I was planning jam. I like making a coulis with the raspberries for cranachan. And crushed ice is such a pain to make yourself, have you a machine?

You can use the stems as a chive replacement for the tattie salad too. And I love the leaves mixed with rocket, parmesan shavings, and honey mustard dressing. Goes well with bbq'd meats

Went for a long walk. Had a quick look in the Toy Fair/Market at Woodside Halls, Glasgow.

Have just taken up reglarly swimming again. Did something to my back months ago and the healing process has been a whole thing. The support of the water is helpful.
