Sophia Wilson has scored her first goal, since her return from maternity leave.

The striker scored the game-winning goal of Portland’s 2-1 victory over Angel City FC. Wilson’s goal occurred in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time. Wilson — who gave birth to her daughter Gianna “Gigi” Wilson in September 2025 — went one-on-one with Angel City goalkeeper Angelina Anderson, before slotting the ball to the opposite low corner.

Angel City aren't the type to roll over and play dead:

In the match against Angel City, Portland — who are currently second on the NWSL table with 13 points, just behind the San Diego Wave — took the lead in the 76th minute with a goal from Pietra Tordin. Wilson scored in the 95th minute, but Angel City refused to let McKenzie Arnold and company record a clean sheet. Angel City scored in the 98th minute, thanks to Zambian international Prisca Chilufya.
