Nine months ago, the Kansas City Current made waves when they announced they had traded for US Women’s National Team attacker, Ally Sentnor. The rich get richer was the sentiment around the league.

The KC Current were in the middle of a record-breaking season. They would go on to set numerous regular season records before ultimately faltering in the 2025 NWSL playoffs.

However, since Sentnor arrived, her play on the pitch hasn’t matched the hype. She’s underperformed, she is without a position, she’s almost out of contract and she simply doesn’t seem to be a fit with the KC Current. For those reasons and others, Kansas City should trade Ally while they can get a good return.

One Ally Sentnor for the Reign, please:

When Sentnor is with the USWNT, she’s a star. In just 21 appearances with the senior Nats, she has 10 goal contributions (seven goals and three assists). In her third season in the NWSL, she has 11 goal contributions in 51 appearances (FBref) so far. Not bad numbers, but not elite.

I actually disagree with this. Sentnor was never given the chance to be a rookie. She came into Utah and was immediately expected to be their main contributor. Compare that with Alyssa Thompson, who was treated as a rookie, with Press as the star. Both performed somewhat similarly, but Alyssa was allowed to grow, while Sentnor has to meet expectations.
I think the move to KC was a good one, because she was in no way expected to be the star on that team. With the coaching change, the team is struggling to find their groove. With Bea out and Chawinga recovering, the pressure fell to Sentnor again, but that's going to change.

I think Current fans are losing their minds because of how thoroughly their team has collapsed and are grasping at straws. I agree that trading Sentnor would be a poor move for KC… unless she ends up scoring goals by the dozens for my team, obviously.

Oh totally, but let's face it, moving one or two players isn't going to suddenly fix things. They need time with their new coach.
