Rรฉsiste! | Paysages fragmentรฉs by Katya Shirshkova & Yurii Kuznetsov selected on The Best Experimental Music on Bandcamp for April 2026. review by Marc Masters : The two sides of this split release by two Russian-born, France-residing artists are p3retty different. Katya Shirshkova primarily uses her voice, while Yurii Kuznetsov relies on field recordings and modular synth. But the spirit of each piece is similar, as they both mix abstraction with concrete sounds. In Kuznetsovโ€™s โ€œPaysages fragmentรฉs,โ€ natural noises clash and crack until that reaches cacophony, later giving way to a poem stirringly spoken by Shirshkova. On the latterโ€™s track, โ€œRรฉsiste!,โ€ tinny drones give rise to chanted, rhythmic vocals that eventually are revealed to be saying the trackโ€™s title. Heard together, the two tracks create consonant sonic worlds.
