Worth noting, The Black Phone is not a "Stephen King-esque" film.

The Black Phone was written by Joe Hill...sborough King, the son of Stephen King. They write similar books. But it's not a Stephen King movie in any way... it's all Joe Hill. He's his own writer with his own style that happens to be similar. His book Horns was also made into a movie, which is a way better adaptation of its source material than King has ever enjoyed.

(He writes under the name Joe Hill because he does not want you to associate him with his father. His fans know (and he looks just like his dad) but he wants new horror readers to consider him by his own merits... which are good and also many. His brother, Owen King, uses the family name, but is not as popular. Their sibling is not a writer. Assigned female at birth, I think their status is genderfluid or trans, I'm not sure and don't want to assume, but they're also not a public figure. Their — the three siblings, not the singular "their" — mother is also a writer, and the three of them were raised around books, so I would be very curious to read what they (the singular, again) would write, if they were to write a book. I read one book by the mother, Tabitha, and was not a fan. But I would give Joe's sibling a chance for sure!)

If you wanna go beyond King to outside his family, Bentley Little is a pretty wild author who King himself reads or has read. I don't think any of his books have been made into movies. His premises are pretty out there... like a Walmart run by the Devil, they will sell you literally anything your heart desires, except it's just called "The Store," and that's also the title of the book. My favourite by Little was "The Ignored" which is about a guy who meets a guy who thinks no one else can see him because strangers just default to ignoring his presence entirely, no matter what. Then the guy (main guy) notices it happening to him, too, and they find themselves in a world that 99% or more of people just... ignore. I really need to reread that. I wish it would get made into a movie. The Store, too.
