Collapse is something that is seen over historical time periods measured in hundreds of years. It's not something that happens in a lifetime. The only thing you notice is that your life wasn't as easy as your parents.

Depends on what kind of collapse we are talking about. Gradual collapses are fine. Its the catabolic ones I am afraid of

The chance of that is tiny compared to real things to prep for like hurricane/tornado/earthquake.

Ukraine has been under invasion for years and this is a photo of Kiev from a few days ago:

I'm pushing 50 and I never wanted to be old. I hope things will get better but if they don't, well, I had a good run. Also, what the guy under me said (chronological sort), one day at a time.

But to not be such a Debbie (or Davey? since I'm a guy) Downer, I try to show kindness where I can. I don't get a lot in return. My job, some people respect me, and other people think I'm a piece of shit. Or something like that. I treat everyone with respect and I refuse to hold a grudge. And sometimes I listen to loud rock music on the way home and just decompress when I get home... but it works out okay for me. Some days I think, I wish I were a drinker or a recreational drug user because this would be the fuckin' day... but I just play some Animal Crossing and unwind. It's good enough. I used to play more violent games, kinda still do, recently got through the Mass Effect games. So I'm not above shooting people in video games. But catching bugs and interacting with cute anthropomorphic animals is alright, too.

Yeah. More people should play Animal Crossing. You don't even need a Nintendo system. I have a Switch and I have a 3DS and I have the games on both... I ported my New Leaf (3DS one) save to my MacBook and I'm running the game on an emulator. Basically wanted a bigger screen, and I never use the 3D slider.

I am still young, I would have had a long life ahead of me. Our future was stolen by the extractive industry 😢
