Basically just that there are so many "ways" to just be black, so he's "mixed race" because his father was "African American" and his mom was "colored."

In addition to what @starelfsc2@sh.itjust.works it also is about being black enough. Jazmine is too black to be white, but too white to be black.

And Huey is from the "streets", while Jazmine is from the suburbs, regardless of where they are living now.
