The lawsuit, filed by the nonprofit Rural Organizing Project, claims state police have long-violated Oregon’s decades-old sanctuary law, which prohibits state and local resources from being used towards immigration enforcement. Last year alone, immigration authorities queried state-run databases — which includes license plate and drivers license information — 1.4 million times, according to the lawsuit.

And law enforcement will keep doing it too. Our entire system is too afraid to levy any consequences whatsoever on our law enforcement. Citizens bulk data cant be trusted to law enforcement, ever, because the cops dont work for us. It needs to be in the hands of a responsible third party under citizens direct control. They should have to ask for access with justification any time they need to use it.
