The United States is named as the biggest threat to the world (even by Americans)

That doesn't invalidate their surprise on the matter. There is a logical reasoning behind it.

It's not logical, though, it actually reveals an illogical bias. Local disputes over fishing and territory simply aren't as big a threat to the world as the warmongering empire that killed a million Filipinos and is currently plunging the world into an energy crisis.

Because I read the linked article.

It isn't "CPC propaganda."

Israel was intended to be a vassal state but their intelligent operation was really successful and they have incredible influence on the US and can flex whenever they need something. Look at the whole Epstein situation.

They have counter-influence, but the tail does not wag the dog.

Again, everything I've said is a summary of the article the .ml user posted, which very definitively concludes that the younger generations are apathetic because of TikTok propaganda from China. I don't care if you disagree, I didn't write or share the article.

And how many support China?

I only ever defended China as not being as bad as the US. I clearly didn't say China is flawless and immaculate - I literally said "China shouldn’t deprive fishermen of their livelihood" - and even if I think the conflict will be resolved peacefully (China doesn't do war) it's still bad. This is a local territorial dispute, though, and it's simply not as big a threat to the world as the US. Yet...

South China Sea is a chokepoint which sees many trades passing through, which China is trying to monopolise. And yet you think that is different from US trying to control the Strait of Hormuz...

Propoganda and recency bias are stronger than you believe.

That's not what the survey shows. The survey shows that, actually, propaganda and recency bias aren't enough. People can access news from around the world these days and they remember their nation's history. If anything, my beliefs are vindicated.

So instead of an actual menu with the actual countries??

Perhaps it's that American idiocy is further reaching these days.

Though you miss the point that someone can logically assume that recent events would play more into people's minds than the study shows.

I'm a bit surprised about Philippines because they are very Americanphile, and also having a spat with China on South China Sea.

Im also a bit surprised by this survey. While I personally believe that the US is the biggest threat to the world, I found it hard to believe that other Filipinos would not say its China. The whole country is so drunk on western propaganda. There's even that news recently here about launching a Tomahawk missile and has been praised by virtually almost everyone even by some academics. The US is highly favored here. Even with the Iran war and the energy crisis, a lot of Filipinos put the blame only on Trump instead of the whole American imperial machinery.

That link really tells me everything, and explains why we approach this matter differently. I asked rhetorically, but it's true, you really do get this shit from RT, the article is attributed to them. And boy is that whole site fascinating, look at these headlines on the front page:

Putin believes Ukraine conflict heading towards end

Journalist Garland Nixon: The Kiev regime is an MI6 'terrorist operation'

Trump DOJ probes 36 Illinois school districts for secretly transitioning kids behind parents' backs

Researcher blows lid on discovery which could PROVE Noah's Ark was real

A reckoning is underway at the FDA after report is made on child deaths due to Covid vax

These UFO files were just the start. Government insiders reveal 'holy crap' moment coming next... and their bombshell extraterrestrial 'conclusive proof'

...and a bunch of links to Tucker Carlson's videos.

I tend not to visit sites that lick Putin's balls, promote fascists, transphobia, antivaxxers, religious nonsense and UFOs, so I guess I've just kind of missed all those reliable news of USA's meddling into other countries' business.

Why the hell is the Dominican Republic so worried about Russia? Spain doesn't even think Russia is the world's greatest threat.

I'm gonna be honest here, I'm not sure about the legitimacy of this. As an American I agree we're probably first with Captain dip shit in charge. That being said, you're telling me Japan was the only country that voted for China, despite them jerking off on the coast to invade Taiwan and them trying to claim all the ocean between them and Australia? While basically terrorizing all the island nations around them?

Yeah, I don't buy that part.

Surprised India and Pakistan didn't say eachother. Also surprised South Korea didn't say North Korea.

If you're not directly affected by the conflict, I assume the US as a global power does seem like a bigger threat to the world at large. The respective neighbours are a local problem, to be sure, but not strictly global. That said...

And is Taiwan treated as a separate state in this data set or not?

I suspect not. They'd likely be biased in favour of the US.

Kay The US murdered over a million people in the Philippines during its turn at colonization after the Spanish. China shouldn't deprive fishermen of their livelihood, but since we're comparing them to the US it's clear which is worse.

Kay

Germany murdered many millions of people in France and Poland during its two "yay blood and iron; let's conquer the world and get the word genocide invented" attempts.

Russia shouldn't be waging a war of conquest on Ukraine, but since we're comparing them to Germany, it's clear which is worse

How many missiles and bombs did China drop on the Philippines to exercise control over the South China Sea? How many Filipino leaders has China assassinated? Did they blow up hundreds of school children?

It's clear one is worse, and this survey shows that most people on Earth agree with me - including Filipinos.

Germany is a has-been country that basically just helps Israel commit genocide, but not really much else.

The US didn't exactly ever stop killing millions of people. They just hop country to country, Philippines to Korea to Indonesia to Vietnam to Iraq, a million here and a million there, spreading death and destruction all around the world. Those are just the big ones, if we start including the tens and hundreds of thousands there's Chile, Argentina, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Gaza, and on and on.

Remember, we're talking about what country is the biggest threat to the world. It's not China and it's not Russia.

But what if they said Taiwan/Palestine, which are not countries by some definitions but might be a persons first choice?

By having an LLM interpret natural language answers, we have eliminated that bias without introducing any new ones! /s

I think this conflict will be resolved peacefully because neither country benefits from open conflict. China doesn't really do war. They are squatting, with the Chinese warships within Philippine territory without permission. Besides, the US-caused energy crisis is going to do more to deprive Philippine fishermen of their livelihoods than China ever has. Typical cope. Sure, as if being water-ho...

has not much to do with The Philippines per se , it's mostly because of the US Navies ties with The Philippines

I've talked to plenty of Americans who do not know the difference between a country and its capital.

China is already squatting in Philippines' sovereign waters, and you think China won't do anything in the future? Of course, you would not, because you are cheerleading your own team regardless of your own team being guilty of the same imperialism that you pretend to be against.

Its only manifest destiny if its American; otherwise its lower quality outsourcing /s

They are right; The United states followed by Israel are the biggest existential threat to the world, and something has to be urgently done about these rogue nazi states that are armed to the teeth and actively trying to spiral the world into self extintion.
