So there it sits, the comment that remakes your whole day. "You need to follow your passion." It's one of those cliches that seems to be stalking everyone's life especially online where the gurus monatize the wisdom you clearly need. FOLLOW. YOUR. PASSION. Because everyone has passion, right? Everyone wants to fly. Everyone wants to "be somebody." To suggest otherwise would be an affront to our sacred pastime, the grind.

I talk back to the comment knowing I won't be heard. "What if I don't have a passion?" And it's true. What if not everyone on this wide, blue planet has a specific calling? What if some of us just want to live in relative peace?

It's not laziness, not even lack of ambition. Just lack of ambition in a specific direction. Sure, there are things I enjoy...things I guess I like...but I wouldn't refer to them as "callings."

Is this ok? Can everybody handle it?

Because now that a sizeable portion of our species is determined to be famous online among strangers, the concept of living peacefully seems to be dying. Everyone wants to be known. Everyone wants to be seen, to be viewed, and most importantly be shared. The worst thing ever would obviously be to die without subs. Or to simply die one day...without "living up to your potential."

Is this life?

Will you take your subs and your likes and your shares with you into the next world? Do the angels offer special consideration based on how much you monatized?

Is this the best we can do?
