All works are biased, learn some academic literacy. Especially after you posted a list of the most single minded anti communist propaganda imaginable

Yes, that's why I want to read both... You don't have to speak so aggressively. I didn't say anything I listed wasn't biased.

Everything you listed was both biased and historically inaccurate, though. Every source is biased in some way, what's important is recognizing what that bias is.

Ok I specifically chose books that based their information on historical documents provided by said governments. All of my current list are supposed to be the most historically driven, again, based on information obtained by the structures of power in question. You can dismiss them as fake or historically inaccurate but nothing supports that claim. Particularly the road to terror, everyday stalinism and history of the gulag.

What would be gained by creating a safe space for a beliggerent, obtuse, dickhead like you?

What is gained by treating your behavior and arguments with the ridicule they deserve?

You should not engage in a discussion in order to convince someone to change their mind, but if you do so, and you do it in a public forum, then you ought to understand the mind you're changing is very rarely that of the person youre interacting with, but that of onlookers.

Finally, not everything is about some robotic desire to advance an ideological cause. Its pretty reasonable for people to react negatively, when you behave negatively. You behave like a smug prick, despite you being obviously uneducated on the subject you desire to speak, so naturally people treat you like a smug prick opening their mouth to talk when they ought to shut up and listen.

Storytime! Mostly because holy shit this is weighing on my mind like mad, and I need to vent. Living in USA. Someone in my life allegedly did something bad last weekend. I found out by getting a phone call from the local jailhouse on their behalf yesterday morning. I'm their contact, found their legal help, and been drug along part of the process. Holy FUCK is it absolutely insane the shit you ...

It's all fucked up. My brother ended up on parole and it was designed to keep him from holding down a job. He'd have random drug screenings, which meant that each morning he'd call in to the system to find out if he had a drug screening. If he did, he'd have to drive to the county where he committed the offense and was convicted (2 hours away from his home) to wait a few hours to pee in a cup. Imagine holding down a job and not knowing until day of that you'll need to take off most of the day. And they wouldn't even let him do his drug screenings closer to home--theory was that the county got paid per parolee.

Anyways, my brother is a jerk but the system is needlessly cruel.

"Stalinism" isn't really a thing. Marxism-Leninism was synthesized by Stalin, but Stalin did not really present anything radically different from Marxism, nor Lenin's advancements understood as Leninism.

Doesn't mean you were wrong to assume that??? Omfg you keep telling on yourself

Marx was not simply an anarchist. Abolition of the state, in Marxist analysis, is through the gradual collectivization of production and distribution and the eradication of class. Therefore, for a state to wither away, it must be made up of a class that seeks this as a common interest. In other words, it must be a proletarian state. As Marx referred to it, this is the dictatorship of the proletariat, where the working classes have the full control of authority.

Marxism-Leninism did not change this analysis. Instead, the development of Leninist party building strategies and theory of revolution worked out the details of actually achieving what Marx described as the historical task of the proletariat. There is no permanence to the state, such a position both goes directly against Marxism-Leninism in general and dialectical materialism in particular.

This is a little confusing, because the flag on the left is the flag of the Soviet Union. But the Soviet Union was (a) a confederation of countries and (b) not fully incorporated until 1955 under the Warsaw Pact. It's a bit weird to count "prisoners under the USSR" as a political block, but only count "prisoners under the United States" as a single country. Would make more sense to count all the prisoners in all the NATO countries against their populations, as point of comparison.

Also, inevitably has to be asked, because "Black Book" assholes love doing this, but... 1950 was very close to the end of WW2. So, how many of these 2.5M prisoners were wearing little swastika armbands five years earlier?

I understand why you think all members of the US military should be killed. I don't understand why saying "they shouldn't and here's why i feel that way" requires such a venom tipped response. Especially when the second rule of the instance is "Be respectful, especially when disagreeing. Everyone should feel welcome here."

Currently a total of 1.9 M across all incarceration systems: https://www.theglobalstatistics.com/united-states-imprisonment-statistics/

There's another 2.9M Americans under probation, which rounds out the total to the 5.5M in the statistic.

We often hear about probation as a “lenient” sentence for someone facing possible time behind bars, and about parole as the act of a benevolent parole board, allowing an incarcerated person to be released before completing their maximum sentence. These one-dimensional views trick us into seeing these systems as entirely separate from incarceration, but they’re deeply linked. Staying in compliance with dozens of high-stakes, arbitrary rules is so unmanageable that experts call community supervision systems “a deprivation of liberty in their own right.” Moreover, probation and parole are often pathways into incarceration from the community, with violations of supervision accounting for 42% of prison admissions nationwide.

In practice, the process of probation outsources the costs associated with incarceration to the convict, while still imposing a litany of restrictions on travel, association, employment, and behavior through continuous surveillance. The difference between probation and incarceration largely comes down the second-order putative aspects of jail life (inedible food, lack of sleep, prison-encouraged social violence including murder). The primary purpose of jail - social isolation and continuous state monitoring - continues to be fulfilled.

As are all states. The important distinction between them isn't the degree by which authority is used, which is largely decided by the conditions a state is in rather than the form of the state itself, but instead is which class controls the state. The USSR was run by the working classes, the US by capitalists.

"Politician" is not a class. The state, in Marxist theory, is not outside of class struggle, but is within it. The CPSU did not concentrate wealth in their hands, in fact they were paid wages akin to highly skilled labor at the highest level. As such, wealth inequality went dramatically down:

This is why the Soviet administrators cared so much about the working claases, they were working class themselves. Starvation was eliminated in the Soviet Union, life expectancy doubled in the first few decades, literacy rates skyrocketed to 99.9%, unemployment and homelessness were both nearly eliminated.

Yes, it's enormously easy to simply paint the USSR as an exact replica of capitalism and aristocracy in outcome, only different in form. It's also enormously incorrect, and bears no resemblance to reality. As socialists, we need to actually seek truth from facts, and not coast by on vibes alone.
