Are you trying to use that as a dunk because when you actually live under oppression from fascists you REALLY need your opposition party to be effective. Harris winning in 2024 was never going to solve a problem that she was part of, it was only going to delay the inevitable and I can promise you that all of the anti-trans legislation and the pro-genocide action still would have actually happen...

Trump stacked the courts in 2016-2020 already, so that would have been the time to prevent that by voting Dems.

Now anti-trans sentiment is part of an executive order too, which could have been prevented by voting Dems.

How the fuck is “voting against fascism” not on your list of priorities?

And don't patronize me, I'm listening to my trans friends already thanks.

Oh yes, how can I forget that one time when I told a bunch of tankies that I was willing to sacrifice countless Palestinians. Oh that's right - it's a fantasy made up by crazy people!

Just because you aren't willing to say it out loud doesn't mean it's not true, dumbass

The sheer amount of downvotes this earned from calling out sitouts is telling as hell lol These people really can't accept that they're part of the problem. Honestly, I'm surprised this screenshot even made it to the front page. "I'm in this picture and I don't like it"

Its shifting the blame to literally anyone but themselves. The alternative is to admit that theyre not at all the bloody principled geniuses they fancy themselves as.

Absolute revisionism, please educate yourself. Germany (then and now) has a coalition system, so you don't need to vote for the lesser evil of two, more than one party can become a coalition. There's still tactical voting of course, but Hitler became chancellor because enough people voted for Hitler that a coalition with the Nazi party or new elections were the only choices. Yes, they could hav...

Nobody is doing that: arguing over who ... The Dems are the antifascist choice. Your system is fucked, do a revolution or vote Dems, then you won't get fascists who do all the things you hate the Dems doing plus more horrible things.

Does it. No. Stop being wrong.

Yes they do! The Democrats' secret plan is to be so bad at galvanising support so we vote for the Rs, and then the Ds don't even have a lift a finger to destroy democracy. It's ingenious, really. If they actually tried to win elections, they'd win every time, and then the left wing radicals in the party would climb the ranks and push progressive policies. But by losing on purpose, they deflect suspicion and keep the radicals down.

Hey, they couldn't bring themselves to vote for genocide. Their conscience is clean. That's way more important than choosing a lesser evil.

No, a "viable third option" will never exist in the current system. Your democracy isn't democratic. In Europe we don’t use a winner-takes-all system like in the U.S. Instead, we use proportional representation, which means parties get seats based on how many votes they receive. That’s why we have many parties in parliament, not just two. But even the European system is in my book not a true de...

The two party system is only the issue superficially. Compromises have to be made at different stages. Germany has a multi party system, with the effect that governments have to be formed as coalitions based on compromises. Suddenly the party you voted for because they support renewables starts to support surveillance tech and wants to kick out immigrants. Then they write a coalition agreement that isn't worth the paper it's written on, and let themselves be pushed through their 4 years by right wing media.

Two party systems have their issues, but once a party is elected, they can actually do what they said they would do. Now everyone is shocked trump does exactly that

Then maybe tell me how centrists should change their behavior. So far, all you've said is that the left needs to be kind to the genocide wing no matter what they do.

The same thing - show kindness and understanding instead of attacking you for "letting Trump win."

It would also be great if they made an effort to primary candidates one can vote FOR instead of relying on WBNMW and delaying the inevitable (which, as I said, will likely lead to an even worse Republican presidency.

But getting them to vote third party/not at all doesn't seem possible at the moment... because they don't believe something better is possible. See this reply to my comment as an example.

And you could try reasoning with them, but... haven't you been trying that already? Unfortunately, most people don't go by reason.

Maybe they need to be shown that something better is possible.

They need hope in a better future one can pursue.

We all do.

Centrists ejected David Hogg from the party for trying to do that. The Democratic Party didn't spend a decade sabotaging the primary process, to the point where they now just expect to appoint a centrist and order everyone to vote for them, just to let the left stroll in with candidates people want to vote for.

Maybe they need to be shown that something better is possible.

They know something better is possible. They oppose anything better.

Both can be true. How TF we have 4 years to produce a candidate against trump, and the best we got was walking corpse Biden 2.0 and then Kamala "I'm speaking while your homeland is genocided" Harris.

Disclaimer: I'm not american.

For me, major fail from Democrat side was to not acknowledge Biden's mental state, actively hide it as if he's going to run 2nd tern no issues. Kamala was chosen not by people but by a party. She is vice president, no primaries happened, she has to run I guess.

So many things could've been different but they weren't. Bernie should've been president before or after Obama, but here we are. This whole shitfest so called US politics is an open book with pictures and examples of who actually runs this country and for whom rules and laws are written.

And they (voters) have no faith that anything better is possible. Yes, there is likely propaganda at play. Unfortunately, outright telling someone they are under influence of propaganda usually only makes it worse.

Democrats will go to court and argue that they have the right to interfere with the will of the people in primaries. They will protect incumbent centrists like Henry Cuellar but not incumbent progressives like Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman. They will sue to make sure no challenger appears on the ballot in all 50 states. They will appoint a candidate no one but genocidal centrists like at the last...

All true. And still, if one is a fucking adult, one can see that the GOP is now, quite literally, a facist party, and the Dems are still orders of magnitude less harmful. Once one is in that voting booth, one votes against the much worse party even if the alternative is still bad. I don't care one criticizes the party up to the election, and swears up and down one didn't vote Dem, or even lies and says they didn't afterwards, one still votes Dem or they are simply demonstrating that they have enough privilege or insulation to ride out a fascist administration without much difficulty.

Yes, so vote for the lesser evil. The primaries is where you try to get your candidate to the general election. Vote for your chosen choice here, and then vote against the fucking Nazi party during the general election. It's really not hard. People who sat out this last election are worse than trump supporters. They knew how bad trump was, and decided not to take a stand against him.

And trump voters knew how bad he was and decided to support him, i dont think you understand how fucked up in the head trump voters are

Stop pretending other people are responsible for YOUR choices, you monster

You're just not believable. Everything you say appear crafted to convince people to stop opposing Republicans' acceleration of genocide. You're trying to convince people to stop taking action to oppose evil, to settle for just complaining about it.

You want people to stop taking action and stop making better choices because no choice is pure enough. But instead that makes you responsible when the worst outcomes happen

Oh so you were intentionally using partial truths to misleadingly imply that votes couldn't have kept Hitler out of office? Which was the thing I said and the thing you quoted before arguing against it … something else apparently.

if you're trying to stop fascists electorally, you should at least make sure that the person you're electing isn't just going to promote and work with the exact people you're trying to stop.

Agreed, maybe you should have led with that instead.

The Democrats are complicit in many inexcusable things that both parties will continue to do until something changes radically. They are however very much not complicit in trying to get rid of voting and other fascist shit Trump has been pushing relentlessly.
