I don't think you understand how little these vegan Canadian anarchists living on indigenous soil don't care. Certainly they haven't constructed their entire personality around championing causes that they can use to stir up drama at the drop of a hat. They are just trying to live their lives in peace and uncaring bliss. To even suggest otherwise makes you sound like a milk drinker, and they hate milk drinkers. |

Give me someone better to vote for who has a chance of winning and I’ll vote for them. Until then I’m going to vote for the people with a chance to fix this country.
Hopefully a better candidate wins, despite the party's inevitable fuckery in the primaries. Because if another genocidal corpodem "wins" the nomination, they will lose in the general. That's not me threatening to take my ball and go home. That's not purity testing. That's not whatever thought terminating cliche you centrists use whenever you don't want to listen to someone to your left trying to interrupt you when you're making a mistake. That's an honest assessment of the electorate you have to get votes from if you want to win. You would rather lose, blame the left, and move to the right. Genocide wasn't far enough to the right for you or any other centrist. |

You would have voted for Cuomo. |

Tons of people still forgo or delay healthcare because they know or fear it will cost too much. This is the failure you should expect when you relabel a republican policy and pass it as progressive, after slapping on extra means-testing and weird, complex, market-based solutions in the moronic belief that this centrist model will appeal to both republicans and democrats, instead of just giving ...
He knows obamacare is inadequate. But centrists have been coasting for 15 years on a heritage foundation policy that wasn't far enough to the right for them so they stripped out the public option and have made zero attempts to add it back in. |

I'm not sure what you are saying with this. Mamdani ran as a Democrat. Cuomo switched and ran independant when Mamdani beat him in the primary. So, a Democrat won, instead of a third party. Which is exactly what I said in my post. Am I misreading what you've said?
And the "no matter who" wing of the party showed that they're massive hypocrites and tried to sink Mamdani after he won the nomination. |

I'm sure you don't consider Gillibrand's disgusting Islamophobic rant about him to be an example. "No matter who" is only for the left. As soon as the spoiled centrist wing doesn't get 100% of everything they want, which in this case was the sex pest they wanted running New York City into the ground for them, they revert back to "party unity my ass." |

Yeah, Gillibrand was genuinely awful and that was real Islamophobia. That's a legitimate criticism. But Mamdani still won as a Democrat, and that is exactly what I was arguing for. The answer to Gillibrand isn't third parties, it's primarying cunts like Gillibrand. Do you think someone on the right is going to treat Muslim Americans better? Because that's the actual alternative when you don't vote blue. |

The people that were against him are establishment asshats who want to keep the status quo. They didn't want a progressive challenge in the NYC mayoral race. They wanted Cuomo because Cuomo is easy. They aren't representative of the "Blue No Matter Who" voter strategy. People like Schumer, Jeffries, and Jacobs aren't progressive democrats, they are "just let us keep doing what we are doing" democrats. That being said, I'd take Schumer over Thune any day, and that's a 1:1. You can't say that voting another Thune into power is a better alternative to Schumer no matter how much you dislike him. The "Blue No Matter Who" theory still lines up with reality, especially when you can see the alternative already in power. |

They probably won't do shit about cost of living either. The only time it's gone down in the past 20 years was in 2009 after the housing market crashed. That likely had more to do with the recession; and if anything the Democrats' actions were a hindrance to that reduction.

You americans are going to have a rough time now that you have burnt all your soft power and goodwill. Sure you have other problems too, but I don't think any political party can just "turn the 'cost of living' knob up". |

People didn't vote because they felt like Harris was not worth voting for. She lost because she didn't actually offer anyone what they wanted, she was just a harm reduction candidate at best. What you think, and whether she would have done a good job, is completely irrelevant. Do you not understand my point? You win elections by having a candidate that people want to vote for, usually by advancing policies which are popular. The genocide in Gaza is now like a 90/10 issue. It is known that it was a factor in why Kamala lost the election. If she had opposed the genocide, it is very po...
So you voted trump to stop all the forever wars, release the Epstein files, etc? I have no idea where you got the idea that I'd ever vote for Trump. I'm an anarchist, and a union rep, and an activist doing organizing in my local community, but I also always vote for the best candidate I can to mitigate harm. All I am doing here is trying to help liberals understand why Harris lost the election, because I want the Democrats to win. I want to try and avoid another fascist dictatorship, which is inevitable if the Democrats continue to be fascism lite. |

Liberals have a real problem reckoning with the fact that Kamala Harris lost because she was an unelectable piece of genocidal trash who deserves to be put on trial for crimes against humanity alongside Biden for their unlimited support to the genocidal regime of Israel, who advanced precisely zero popular policies, and ran entirely on a platform of "We're like the Republican Party, but slightly less worse". Liberals feel like their candidate was good, but only lost because voters are lazy, apathetic, stupid, etc. If the candidate was good, voters would overcome these obstacles and vote. I'm just explaining fundamental reality to people who do not want to come to terms with the fact that their political project, neoliberalism, is dead and gone. |

I've voted in every election I was ever eligible to vote in. I am simply explaining why the Democrats lost. You can hate the people who didn't vote if you want, I understand that frustration, but there is a very good reason they didn't vote - because they didn't perceive the Democratic candidate to be someone worth voting for. Advance a candidate with popular policies who isn't a genocidal piece of shit and watch in amazement as political engagement ramps up. |

If you think electing a genocidal democrat is progress, as far as I'm concerned, you are as much an enemy of mine as a MAGA supporter is. I am not asking for perfection. The thing is, in their hearts, they know what the problem is. They need to give ground to the left. They're just throwing a tantrum and refusing to accept it because in the past they've been able to win with a coalition of centrists, moderates and liberals. Those days are now gone, and this coalition, which has been looking down and sneering at the left for decades, really doesn't want to have to capitulate to our demands. But if they don't, they'll just cause republican fascists to come to power. For many right wing democrats, fascism is preferable to socialism. There is a very good reason the DNC hasn't released the election post-mortem report, because it probably confirms something close to what I just described - though, probably watered down slightly. The leaks we do have confirm that the Democrats lost votes because of their pro-Genocidal stance. |

Ok. Keep blaming voters. Scream at them until the end of time. It won't change the electorate you have in front of you. You can appeal to the voters or lose. Leftists, including me, yelled as loudly and repeatedly as possible that Biden/Harris would lose the election, long before the election was held. We were ignored, and now, we're being blamed for the loss that is 100% the fault of the centrist/right wing of the Democratic party. What do you think I'm doing now, literally YEARS out from the election? I am trying to help people understand WHY the Democrats lost, so that we can avoid a candidate who will lose in the same way. I'm trying to push the Democrats back towards the left wing because that is the best hope we have of curbing the rise of fascism. |

Biden only won in 2020 because he was the anti-Trump candidate and Trump fucked up the handling of COVID, it wasn't because Biden was particularly popular or because anyone liked his policies. In fact, I can't think of a single good policy he pushed for or enacted, and I can think of a bunch of things he did wrong. But, yeah, you can believe whatever you like. We'll see how the next election goes, but I'm sure neoliberals will continue to come up with some sort of explanation to continue believing in neoliberalism even as it becomes more and more apparently a failed, dead ideology. |
