Excet you can't really magically appeal to all progressives/leftists/liberals/center people.

Some single issue Trans rights.

Some single issue Palestine.

Some single issue dumping ICE

Etc etc.

The only thing that MAGA has to single issue is hate. With a dash of "abortion bad".

And people have been fighting for the ownership of their stupid holy land since man has existed. Who gives a fuck about either side in Israel/Palestine. Let them wipe each other out while the rest of the world slowly moves on ffom acting like LOTR version zero is any sort of reality.

People didn't vote because they felt like Harris was not worth voting for. She lost because she didn't actually offer anyone what they wanted, she was just a harm reduction candidate at best. That isn't sufficiently motivating to get people out to vote, no matter how much we rant and yell and shame people. Please, I am begging you, accept this reality. Funny how not setting your hand on a burning stove won't result in third degree burns isn't a good enough reason to not set your hand on a burning stove. You ever heard the phrase "don't let better be the enemy of perfect"?

No shit Harris sucked, but she sucked a whole lot less than Trump and moving incrementally left from Harris would have been a HELL OF A LOT easier than moving left from Trump. I do absolutely blame the idiots who sat around and said "well, Harris doesn't inspire me, so I'll sit here and let the fascist collapse happen. That'll show everyone how morally superior I am!"

The people who didn't vote, I think, are worse than Trumo supporters because at least Trump supporters made moves to do what they thought was best while you sat around and twiddled your thumbs and let the world burn around you instead of doing the bare fucking minimum available to you to stop it, or at least slow it down to make it easier to change it in the near future

You americans are going to have a rough time now that you have burnt all your soft power and goodwill. Sure you have other problems too, but I don't think any political party can just "turn the 'cost of living' knob up".

I think it’s fine to expect your party to be capable of doing things that aren’t accomplished by turning a single imaginary knob. Imagine applying this to any other situation: “sorry, there’s no ‘do the dishes’ switch so I’m gonna have to tell you to lower your expectations.”

What an absolutely revolting way to talk about real people, especially when we're talking about a hundred thousand innocent people being killed intentionally as part of a genocidal endeavor.

This isn't a fair fight we're talking about, it's a series of massacres that have been going on since 1948, conducted by a nuclear state which is backed by the world's foremost superpower, supplied with the latest weapons to ethnically cleanse and eradicate an entire indigenous population who are forced to live in an open-air prison by a settler-colonial state, and their justification is that they want the land that those people are living on because it was promised to them by God according to the Bible.

Entire cities have been completely flattened, ambulances and humanitarian supplies destroyed, children targeted by snipers, civilians intentionally targeted by missile strikes, then when help arrives, another missile strike.

You have never seen a movie or the horrors of anything the likes of this since the Holocaust. And if you live in the US, your tax money goes towards enabling all of it, your government is providing them with all of the guns, bombs and tanks they need.

You might as well keep trying to impeach Trump. In fact, we'd think you have balls if after each defeat in the Senate, you drum up another impeachment vote.

And I'd like to remind you that Republicans passed the repeal of Obamacare repeatedly in the last two years of Obama's presidency.

Leftists, including me, yelled as loudly and repeatedly as possible that Biden/Harris would lose the election, long before the election was held. Yeah, being mad at trump supporters voting for trump is like being mad at your dog for eating its own shit. It's a dumb animal that eats shit and garbage, what were you expecting? I'm more mad that they have, not just equal, but over representation in this political system. We need a system where ideally, the stupid dogs have no representation, or at a minimum, equal representation to actual thinking human beings.

No excuses for the 3rd party/non-voters in 2024. Life is full of shitty compromises made worse by inaction. I'm amazed they've made it this far in life without noticing that, but it's time to adult the fuck up.

Primaries for Congress are going on right now, and each one of those whiny lazy chucklefucks that got us into the mess ought to be out there stumping for their ideal candidate every waking hour of every day until November.

They probably won't do shit about cost of living either. The only time it's gone down in the past 20 years was in 2009 after the housing market crashed. That likely had more to do with the recession; and if anything the Democrats' actions were a hindrance to that reduction.

Prices basically never go down, what you need is stability so that the earned income can rise to match the new prices.

On the flip side, there isn't a whole lot the president can do to reduce inflation, but there sure as fuck is a lot they can do to make it worse.

Seven million less people voted Harris than Biden so there's a chance those 'neo-liberals' are right. What does neoliberal mean to you anyways?

Neo-liberal ideology is one that succinctly calls itself socially liberal and fiscally conservative.

It's pro-capitalist believing in laissez-faire economic policies, minimal government guidance, regulation, or oversight. Economic policies that do not restrict the accumulation of wealth, expansion of business, reach of business, its regulation. Believers often talk about the hand of the free market guiding it.

Social policies, it ranges from moderately conservative to moderate in general. As long as they do not hamper the free market economy. Equality but not necessary egalitarianism. So examples include increase in police funding, promotion of private institutions along with public ones.

They believe people should be free to move among the social levels through merit. Also austerity is a big part of it. Big players in recent times have been Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan. Both parties were neo-liberal until the time of Newt Gingrich then the Republicans started to turn toward reactionary politics more and more.

Neo-liberal does not mean leftist/ism/, socialist/ism, communist/ism, and anarchist/ism. Such ideologies are at odds because they believe in best of a regulated capitalist socio-economic policy to outright its rejection.

I'm very tired of having to repeat to you centrist-splainers that I voted for harris.

Yes, republicans are worse. But being second worse by as narrow a margin as you think you can get away with is not enough to win. You have seen that happen before your eyes. You have seen the consequences. And you still think you can berate and scold and lecture your way out of this, to people who knew you were going to lose all along, voted for the genocidal shit you wanted anyway, and get blamed for the loss they tried to warn you about.

You need voters to win. And no matter how much the prospect disgusts you, They won't vote for second worst in sufficient numbers for you to win. It's so unfair that you have to give the voters more than capitulation and genocide.

Just, honestly, thank you. Thank you for always saying the quiet parts out loud. You make it so much easier to identify and understand why and how liberalism ends up at fascism.

And what you are doing is important, even if its naively so. We need this kind of thinking documented, if only to study in an effort to make sure no one ever repeats it.

Right, so what does liberal mean to you then?

Social liberalism or progressive liberalism is a political philosophy and variety of liberalism that endorses social justice, social services, a mixed economy, and the expansion of civil and political rights, as slightly opposed to classical liberalism which favors limited government and an overall more laissez-faire style of governance. While both are committed to personal freedoms, social liberalism places greater emphasis on the role of government in addressing social inequalities and ensuring public welfare.

Social liberal governments address economic and social issues such as poverty, welfare, infrastructure, healthcare, and education using government intervention, while emphasising individual rights and autonomy.

Social liberalism, because the US usually just calls it liberalism.
